Harajuku Essence
Harajuku fashion is a collection of many Japanese subcultures that celebrate self-expression and creativity within fashion. Harajuku fashion is named after a street in Shibuya located in Tokyo, Japan. Its popularity rose in the early 1980’s and was at its peak in the 90s-early 2000's as a place for young Japanese teens to have a safe space to be themselves, meet new people, and show off the styles they created. The destination spot got so well known that many people would often travel just to wear their best outfits.
Harajuku fashion became more known due to “FRUiTS Magazine". This magazine was very influential to teens and young adults. FRUiTS became the hub of all things fashion.
